Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Community Members,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year. It is hard for me to believe that Liberty High School is about to embark on our 14th year serving the educational needs to the students of the Clark County School District. Having the pleasure of opening this school as a dean in 2003, I have enjoyed watching our amazing growth!
First, let me share with you the news that our Class of 2016 earned the highest graduation rate in our young history. Increased, and improved, home-to-school lines of communication are one key to that achievement. I've always believed that parents, teachers, counselors, and school administrators working in concert with one another is the surest way to achieve the highest levels of academic and social success for students. Along those same lines, let me encourage you to attend our PAC meetings so that we may discuss all matters relevant to Liberty High School in person. All PAC meetings begin at 9 am. The dates for those PAC meetings are September 28, November 9, January 4, February 15, March 29, and May 10.
Simply check in at the front desk and they can assist you with getting to the meeting location. Our Open House this year is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 at 6 pm. As we've done the last few years, you'll be able to walk your students schedule at your leisure (no bells) and visit some or all of the class rooms in whichever order you wish. Open House is an important night for you to share in the Liberty experience with your student and meet your child's teachers. Please be reminded Open House is not the time to discuss matters which are better served for a parent-teacher conference. It is, however, the perfect opportunity to meet the teachers and get a good feel for what happens here and what your child experiences daily. The other big date I want to bring to your attention is our first ACT Camp the weekend of October 7-9. At a price greatly reduced for Liberty students anticipating taking the ACT, the three-day "camp" is run by educators well versed in covering the types of questions most often seen on ACT exams and educators who have a long track record of kids earning the type of ACT score they'd like. More information on the camp will follow in the mail. You may also wish to discuss the ACT camp with your child's counselor.
I encourage you to follow all of our activities, athletics, and other events on Facebook or on Twitter at LibertyHighSchool@LHSPats. I look forward to meeting with you soon. Let's have another great year at Liberty High School.
